It’s no secret that I am enamoured with all things from the past, as well as being ahead of the trends. This makes makes my approach to photography and the visual arts quite unique. One of my favourite things to do is look through vintage images, especially my childhood photo albums. These photos give me all the warm and fuzzy emotions and bring about fond memories from my past. I hope to bring about these same emotions when I take photos of your family and portraits. Add a touch of creativity to those everyday moments and you get one of kind artful photography.

A typical family photo session consists of you being you and I being a fly on the wall. I will simply hangout with you while you go about your ordinary day and activities. No posing, no guiding, no holding hands from me at least. You can decide to plan an activity and I will come along and document it. I will follow the action where ever it takes me, the park, the ice scream shop or even to Paris if you like! I’ve been photographing my own family this way for 7 years now, you can see my personal family documentary photos here. Also included in these family photoshoots, I will take time to include a few posed family portraits as well.

ARTFUL PORTRAIT SESSIONS

If you are looking for one of kind, creative portraits this is for you! You can be as involved in the creative process or just trust me and just show up. These photos will be filled with emotion, movement, nostalgia, like painted memories or what dreams are made of. These portraits can be done alone or with another person or two no more. For example it can be a Motherhood session- so just mom and her kids or a best friend session, perhaps a graduating/senior session or just you and me hanging out and having fun. I’ll come hang out with you or your kids- where ever you feel comfortable (at home, at the park, in the backyard). We can keep it simple or have fun… It will definitely involve some music, most probably flowers and perhaps even some hiding in bushes, it might involve some dancing and jumping, but I promise the final result will be original and beautiful.

These sessions can either be taken with my digital camera or if you want something even more magical and dreamy then I also shoot with some old vintage cameras on film. These film sessions cost more, as I have to cover the costs of the film. However, in my opinion it is well worth it.

FAMILY FILMS

Creating home videos of everyday life always makes me happy. Bringing memories to life through mini films complements photos in the perfect way. Going back and hearing the kids voices or seeing how they move and dance is priceless. Mini videos / moving portrait and interviews, at milestones like birthdays are a great way to document the big and little moments of your family life. These make great Mother's day and Father's day gift as well or an unconventional Christmas card.

Telling your family's story through a motion picture is unlike anything else. I love photos, but there is something very special about film, it capture the little expressions and the movement that is not perceptible in photos. It also evokes emotions and memories, especially when seen a few years later. We don't realize how life goes by so fast and how it changes- kids grow up, their voices change, the way they walk or ride their bicycle changes.

MOVING PORTRAITS

Moving portraits are mini films that capture the person in a moment in time. It can be showcasing one's favourite hobby or toys or it can be a maternity shoot. It's meant to capture your personality just like an environmental portrait would but in movement.

MINI INTERVIEWS

These videos are simple interviews of your kids, alone or siblings together. They are great for documenting milestones like birthdays, I ask all kinds of questions about the child and what his interests are at that time. These also make great Mother's or Father's day and even anniversary gifts where I ask the kids about their parents- the answers they come up with can be really funny. These can make alternatives for Christmas cards and are perfect for posting on social media- we can do a year in review type of interview. The possibilities are endless.
